| Sun 22 | | Roseate Tern Long Reef Aquatic Reserve Sydney |
|
| Found in the Crested Tern Roost on Sunday evening. Obviously smaller that Crested Terns and too long winged and slow in flight for Little. the key features identified were the obviously long slender all-black bill, flat crown and a smooth white upper edge (not saw toothed) to the primaries, which should eliminate Common and White-fronted Terns.
Other features pointed out by Steve McBride include small head, white eyering (potentially), bill shape and primary projection.

| Sat 14 | | Regent Honeyeater Yengo National Park--Bucketty Dam |
| Yesss! Super exciting and unexpected sighting today. 6 ReHo seen clearly feeding on Red Bloodwood blossom. Not too bothered by Noisy Friarbirds but moving around a lot. 2 of the birds heard calling and I got a recording which has been added to eBird checklist. Unmistakable bird with black head, bare face, scalloping on breast and rump and gold wing and tail tips. Didn’t see any bands on birds but legs obscured by foliage and terrible light. eBird checklist |

| Thu 26 | | Tahiti and Black Petrels, Streaked Shearwater, Browny Booby, Red-tailed Tropicbirds, Sooty Terns Offshore--Port Stephens pelagic |
|
| It was a rather 'tropical-feeling' pelagic off Port Stephens on Thursday 26th. Perhaps the most notable thing was the number of Sooty Terns seen, with close to 100 individuals observed (rarely was there a moment when birds weren't visible during our drift). The Sooties were punctuated by some great warm water species such as a (very pale and moulting) Tahiti Petrel, adult female Brown Booby, at least three Red-tailed Tropbirds and three Streaked Shearwaters. An obliging Black Petrel was cause for excitement as well. After having a Tahiti last month, think this is the first time we've had this species on consecutive trips off Port Stephens. Good numbers of Fleshies (~100), also two Shy-types but no stormies at all. Composite image includes photos by Steph Owen, Allan Richardson and Jon Spicer Bell. eBird checklist |
