Fly River Grassbird
Bensbach River May be the first sighting of this species for more than 20 years! Heard, then whistled in and sound recorded about 3km downstream from lodge. Good views of unstreaked bright chestnut crown and long white supercilium in combination with diagnostic vocalisation left no doubt. Also heard in two other sites on Bensbach River.
Also 50 Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, 1 Curlew Sand, 2 Red-necked Stints, 10 Wood Sands, 3 Marsh Sands, 10 Common Sands and a Barn Swallow on the lower floodplain on 28 Aug. Dion Hobcroft 1/9 #14522 |

Feline Owlet-nightjar

Greater Melampitta
Dablin Creek, Tabubil Single bird seen well, though briefly, twice moving to a sinkhole perching on an open branch across the creek. Possibly a pair exchanging on a nest. At least three heard in the area. Dion Hobcroft 1/9 #14521 |
